Advances in Molecular and Clinical Diagnosis for Haematological Malignancies
Friday 25 April 2025 | The Royal Society of Medicine, London

The BLPG was honoured to co-sponsor the internationally acclaimed Advances in Molecular and Clinical Diagnosis for Haematological Malignancies, held at the historic Royal Society of Medicine in London. This hybrid event brought together over 100 delegates from across the globe, uniting leaders in haematopathology for a rich day of scientific exchange, clinical insight, and forward-looking dialogue.

The programme opened with reflections from Prof. Miguel Piris and Prof. Tom Grogan, offering both a historical perspective and a visionary outlook on lymphoma diagnosis. What followed was a masterclass in the state-of-the-art: from immunogenetics and molecular pathology to cutting-edge therapeutic strategies. Esteemed speakers including Prof. Elias Campo, Prof. Leticia Quintanilla-Fend, Prof. Philippe Gaulard, and Prof. Brunangelo Falini formed a truly distinguished faculty, making the event one of outstanding academic calibre.

A particularly moving moment was the heartfelt tribute to Professor Peter Isaacson, whose pioneering work in lymphoma classification continues to shape the field. His legacy—as a scientist, teacher, and mentor—was fondly remembered by many in the audience who had the privilege of working alongside him.

In addition to the high-level content, the meeting also championed the future of the field with a poster prize competition, encouraging and recognising trainee excellence. The day concluded with a beautifully hosted dinner at the Italian Embassy, providing the perfect setting for continued discussion, connection, and celebration.

We extend our deepest gratitude to Professor Teresa Marafioti (UCLH) for her vision, leadership, and tireless efforts in curating such a memorable event. Plans are already underway for an expanded Spring 2026 programme, with a broader focus that will include myeloid malignancies, ensuring wider inclusivity and relevance.
